Mike has a deep background in energy technology in Western Canada. He has evolved from finance and strategy, through marketing and program management into venture capital, angel investing and board roles. This well rounded background gives Mike a strong ability to assess companies from multiple different angles and separate winners. Mike is currently engaged in starting up a fund (Fronterra Ventures) dedicated to new oil and gas technologies based in Calgary. He has invested in a diverse range of companies comprising thermochemical, electrochemical and biological conversion systems and advanced materials plays to market innovation companies. He has traveled extensively and has a deep network of contacts throughout the world in the venture and strategic investor community as well as entrepreneurs in the energy technology space.

Mike is a graduate of UBC (B.Comm) and holds his Chartered Accountancy from the Institute of British Columbia as well as being a member of the Board of the Canadian Venture Capital Association.

Mike enjoys free time with his wife and two young children at the beach and in the mountains.
